Goliath was, according to the Bible, a giant who fought for the Philistine army. He was beaten in the name of God by David, an Israeli shepherds son.
But Goliath is still alive in Dendermonde. The 4-meter high giant is the proud bearer of a beautifully crafted scimitar and a very peculiar hat. Goliath weighs 76 kilograms and was created in the year 1626.
Goliath is the giant of the guild of Saint-Georges.
